Victimized often and often plays the victim. Abandoned her home country because of abuse and alienation. Born to privilege, then suffered for her vanity and her assumed naivety.
Her design is excellent, she knows pop culture and crosses most popular cultural boundaries with ease.
The toys and character designs are often quite good.
As a fine artist, her work has weakened over the years. Her focus on character design, animation, and product design has negatively impacted her art. What she considers her "dark period," is among the finest artistic production/creation she has ever achieved, and even ranks among major Western artists, including Hans Bellmer, Warhol, and artists from the 1980's New York scene. Recognition for this very brief period in her career is due.
I used to see all these litte characters in the fridge when I opened the door. Of course Hamura is good at one-off, limited toys. You go girl!
