Biography

Carl Jones is a 34 year old creative visionary. Born in Frankfort Germany, moving to the US shortly after with his mother, father and 3 sisters . With humble beginnings, as a child Carl didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he did have a big bowl of cereal in his lap. Sitting on the floor in front of the television every Saturday morning watching endless cartoons. Greatly inspired by a lot of animation of the 70’s in particularly Fat Albert and the Gang and Hanna Barbera. He is a self taught artist and writer that is becoming a major creative force in animation and the arts community. Carl is currently producing Adult Swim’s top rated animated series called The Boondocks and is illustrator of the award winning comic strip of the same name.

Carl credits hip-hop music with informing his creative process. Graffiti has also been a big inspiration to Carl as he says it reflects the struggle of the inner hoods that gives birth to the art of our culture. Among his chief influences are Mr Jago, Tim Biskup, Bruce Smith, Justin Bua, Chuck Jones and Kazuto Nakazawa. Carl currently resides in Los Angeles with his lovely wife and his 3 beautiful children.
