Biography
Jennifer Lewis is a freelance illustrator and painter residing in Boston. She was born in Germany but grew up mostly on the East coast of America. She spent the majority of her childhood in Maine spending endless days playing with the small animals in the woods and drawing on her walls. Even as a child, Jennifer was fascinated with all the inner workings of animals, as she rooted through libraries of natural history books. She was also captivated by the books of Beatrix Potter and Edward Gorey, as well as illustrations by Lisbeth Zwerger and Richard Scarry.
While still a child, Jennifer made it her life’s goal to become an illustrator. She started taking oil painting classes at age ten and continued art classes throughout high school, attending courses at both the Maine College of Art and the Mass College of Art. For her undergraduate studies, Jennifer attended the Rhode Island School of Design where she graduated in 2000 with a BFA in Illustration.
After college Jennifer moved to Boston, where she now resides in a wonderful artist studio in the vibrant Fort Point community where she is surrounded by lots of paintings and storybook imagery. Jennifer can be found exhibiting at coffee shops and galleries throughout the country including Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles.
