Biography[edit]
Gretchen Lewis is an illustrator and pop-surrealist painter, working primarily in oil on wood. The creatures and characters in her paintings are often personal manifestations of Gretchen’s own weird little obsessions. She draws inspiration from her endless fascination with nature, biology and the cycles of life, from her growing collection of sad, broken vintage toys, and from a childhood spent devouring classic children’s books, Golden Age illustration and early cartoons. Gretchen currently lives in San Francisco.
