Cubotoy are paper toys created by Angello Garcia Bassi.
ORIGAMI MEETS STREET ART.
The graphic designer and illustrator Angello García Bassi presents Cubotoy: collection of paper toys. Designed by himself, he created new facets of these objects. The artist create the paper toy templates, customise, build and display on own individual character.
Angello mixes the traditional Japanese art of paper origami with moderm illustrative styles. In the extensive handwork small paper toys become art objects. So he creates an exciting link between the two cultures.
His paper toys are based in street culture and have been growing with evolving pop art, graffiti art, street fashion, urban toy and more.
These toys a born of a number of concepts ad the main premise was to seek a new platform or surface on which to design. The best way was by means of something less costly than vinyl and that was easy to recognise. And so the idea of mixing the classic Japanese technique of Origami with designs influenced by pop culture and street art was born.
