Biography
Bruce White was born in Martinsville, Virginia in 1953. He began drawing and compiling sketch books from the age of four. At the ripe old age of seven, he was one of three students chosen to create and paint the Christmas mural for the Indian Landing Elementary School in Rochester, New York. After he and his family moved to Southern California at the age of 13, he began to paint with acrylics. As a math and art major at El Camino Real High School, he won numerous student art awards and sold his first painting in the juried L.A. County Arts Festival during his senior year.
Bruce won a modest scholarship in a juried portfolio competition as a freshman in college and continued to sell his paintings throughout his college career to help pay for tuition and - more art supplies! He held the first of many one-man shows in Woodland Hills, California, at the age of 19. Mr. White studied painting, graphic design and interior design and graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree when he was 21.
Then it was back to the Los Angeles area working as a free-lance illustrator and graphic designer for various advertising agencies, design studios and publishers. Just a year later he returned to Colorado to get married and continue his long, award-winning career as an illustrator, graphic designer and fine artist. He and his wife, Loretta are the proud parents of two daughters. Mr. White continues to work out of his home studio in Littleton, constantly creating new pieces inspired by extensive travels and a wide range of experiences.
