Biography[edit]
The child of artistic parents who regularly projected vintage cartoons over his crib, Alex Kirwan's passion for drawing began early. Alex left his hometown of Duluth, Minnesota after placing in a Hanna-Barbera sponsored storyboard contest. Since Arriving in Hollywood Alex has worked as a character designer, art director, and development artist at several animation studios including Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney. He created three shorts for Nickelodeon's Oh Yeah Cartoons, and taught for four years at Cal Arts. In 2009 he won an Emmy for his contributions to Cartoon Network's "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends". His personal work reflects his love of creating characters and stories, and has shown at the M Modern Gallery in Palm Springs, Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, and Los Angeles' Gallery 1988. He currently resides in Altadena, Ca with his talented wife, Leticia Lacy, his beautiful daughter, Nightingale, and with his precocious Boston Terrier, Balamar.
